Gdańsk, Poland

Today we toured Gdańsk, Poland. It was a beautiful day and a nice walk. We were on the earliest tour which was most painful to wake up in the in the morning, especially when the alarm went off at 4:30 (due to time zone change) instead of 5:30am but we can now take a nap before spa appointments. It’s a tough life being a pampered American tourist.

WWII started in Gdańsk with an attack by the Nazis so most buildings had to be rebuilt after the war. There is a concentration camp outside of the city but we did not take that tour (too sad). There is also a huge castle but since St. Petersburg, we are castled out for the moment. So, we just went on a stroll through this pretty town.

By the time we left, there were tons of tourists groups so we were lucky to be so early.

Interesting notes:
1. Kate and William visited Gdańsk in July 2017. They drank Goldwasser (local liquor with gold flakes) and spent the night. Nine months later...Prince Louis. The locals say the new Prince was made in Poland.
2. Daniel Fahrenheit of temperature fame, was born here.
3. Gdańsk is the home of the largest brick Catholic Church in the world. When the Pope visited, they stuffed 25,000 people in this church.

We are cruising again and I’m minutes from a very long spa appointment.....ahhhhh. Tomorrow, Berlin. Good night!

  1. "Sopocki Don Aukcyjny" >> pronounced "Soup-AW-kee Dawn Ack-jjjjjjjjggjggjgyygngyunnngngyyy". I'm pretty sure that means "Laundromat" in Polish.
