Well, we are finally going on this cruise that we have been talking about forever it seems. It was very hard leaving today. We planned this trip before we had Sadie and the puppies. I had a giant knot in my stomach leaving all of our sweet babies. We have been promised pictures so that makes me feel better. Otis is at the Pet Retreat in a VIP suite, Ms. Edna and the puppies are at the vet clinic and we have a guy going to the ranch twice a day to bottle feed Sadie. Ms. Edna had to be moved already. They put her at the end kind of secluded. They said she was VERY protective of her puppies. Big Jim would agree with that statement. Ms. Edna actually let Otis go in the pen and look at her puppies, it is just Big Jim that she keeps away.
Ok, so as usual we arrived at the airport three hours early and it was a good thing. Our connecting flight from Amsterdam to Stockholm was cancelled. KLM customer service was our first encounter of rude. We were rescheduled on a later flight so that was ok. I asked him for the flight number so I could relay to our travel agent and so she could notify the cruise line. He told me very snotty that he already told me the number. Hummmm, not too nice.
Rude number two and three were at...you guessed it... TSA security. The put your luggage in the bin girl was nasty to everyone. After that there was a seriously rude guy that yelled at everyone. I’m not real sure what his job was but he not a nice person. These people must feel powerful just being rude and aggressive to strangers all day.
So we made it thru security, went to the only restaurant in terminal D and the waiter smarted off to us right away. He kind of recovered but he sure started off wrong. Woody gave him a nice tip so that made him real sweet.
When we boarded the plane we had the sweetest nicest flight attendant. The only thing he couldn’t fix was the heat. It was central air so he had no control. I sweated for nine hours. The temperature was in the 80’s I’m sure. We sure didn’t need those blankets he passed out. This was a first for me. Usually as Woody would say, you could hang meat in there it is so cold.
Now we are killing time at the Amsterdam airport waiting for our flight to Stockholm. It is a nice airport but very big. You have to walk forever to get anywhere. But the Dutch boys at security are sure nice and polite. They need to go to Houston and train that group I think.
Five hours at AMS then a 2.5 hour flight to Stockholm. We will be met at the airport so the Viking folks can schlep these overpacked bags and send me to my room for a long nap. Travel days are never fun but I guess that is just part of the deal.
And finally, it is Chris’ birthday today. I can’t call so I hope your day was wonderful!
So we can only presume you made it alive. Need an update with ship pics.
ReplyDeleteOh sorry. Yes we made it alive but I was too tired to take pictures. I will post ship pictures later too.
