Stockholm, Sweden

Today we had a bus and walking tour of Stockholm. We didn’t have too much time today so mostly it was a drive or walk by view. The Stockholm City Hall was the highlight of the morning. Interesting facts: home of the Nobel prize banquet, built with 8 million handmade bricks, and the three golden crowns on top of the tower are each the size of a small car.

We also saw and heard the changing of the guard at the royal palace. Not as dramatic as Buckingham Palace but still something. They need better costumes to compete with the Buckingham guys. At least they need better hats.

The people were very friendly. Woody was on a search for Heinz ketchup. We stopped in a convenience store and this guy first asked where we were from. Anyway, he told us his life story but all I could do was stare at his mouth. He lost his front tooth and was about to go see a dentist. It was like a mouth hole was talking to us. Back to the ketchup hunt...he walked us to where a grocery store was located but they didn’t have ketchup. So that means another hunt in Finland. A guy on the bus announced that he came all the way to Sweden (for his wife) to buy shoes. I could have topped that story.

So, we are cruising now. The scenery is beautiful and the weather is nice. I am a fan of sweater weather and that’s just what we have. I suppose it’s in the 50’s today. We are going by bunch of small islands with thick forests. It seems pretty remote to have a house on these islands. I’d need to be a little closer to a grocery store and Walmart.

One more thing. When you get old and forgetful like us, you have to document things because you can’t rely on your memory anymore. The last picture is where the car keys are stashed.
