Madrid, Day 2

Today, when we went downstairs to the breakfast buffet, Celtic was busy complaining to the hostess about something.
The breakfast was just ok, but unlike Celtic, we did not complain to the hostess.

Beth had arranged for a deluxe four hour Tuk Tuk tour of Madrid.  A Tuk Tuk is a three wheeled golf cart like vehicle.  Our tour guide/driver was a sweet lady with a very thick Spanish accent.  I understood very little of her discussion.  The good news was that Beth understood all.  When we stopped, Beth translated the important things to me.  We weaved all thru the streets with multiple photo ops and lots of history and stories about Madrid.

The most interesting stop of the day was the bull fighting arena, Las Ventas.  We took an audio tour and learned all about bull fighting.  Some things I’d just like to forget but it is a cultural thing here.  I did like the costumes in the museum.  They had lots of sparkles and embroidery.

This afternoon, more shopping and finally a great dinner.  Then on the uber ride back to our hotel it happened.  The old man driver had some of the loudest disco music blaring that made us giggle like we were in church.  It was so ridiculous it was funny.

After we got back to our hotel room, Beth discovered that both zippers on her backpack were opened.  A pickpocket must have tried his luck but came up empty handed.  All of our loot was still there.  Happy day.

And now it is midnight and I’m not sleepy.  After dinner, the waitress gave us some complementary coffee grounds chocolate that tasted like brownie flavored granola.  I asked Beth if she wanted some.  She wisely declined.  She said she wouldn’t be able to sleep if she ate that.

Good grief…good night, maybe.
