Sete, France

Today was an outstanding day.  We started the day with room service breakfast.  We must have been real hungry when we ordered the night before because there was WAY too much food (Leon).  The good news is we didn’t have a Celtic sighting.

Stan the van driver met us at the cruise port and drove 1.5 hours to a walled medieval castle in Carcassonne.  It was like stepping into an episode of Game of Thrones.  There were tiny cute shops and restaurants all throughout this walled city.  We didn’t take the tour because it was described as demanding.  My bad knees did fine, even on all the cobblestones.  No tripping to report.  Beth bought a book so we can read about the history on the ride home.

We had cassoulet for lunch.  It is a traditional dish of this area made with white beans, duck leg, sausage etc.  It was very good but the waiter was not friendly at all.  Beth ordered a salad, he said NO. She pointed to the menu and said green salad and he said ok. I guess green is an important word for ordering salad.  He did not speak to us, just delivered the food and left.  Oh well, his loss. Maybe American women are not his thing.

Also, there were lots of French kids running around with toy swords and shields.  Young Eddie and Billy would have loved this place, especially the sword fighting!

We slept on the way back to the ship.  Turns out, Stan wasn’t too much of a talker but that worked for us.  He was very nice and polite, just didn’t have much to say.

So, dinner in our room tonight.  No bad or good food to report today. Good night.

Off to the right way in the distance you can see our ship.

Stan said the little rectangles in the distance are oyster farms.  Beth asked him if he liked them.  He very quickly said no.  He worked there for two years.  Now, no oysters.

This was in one of the shops.  The butt cheeks were squishy.   We found that amusing..

This was our view from the restaurant.

Another beautiful sunset taken from our balcony.
