Let me start by saying Jane and I have been talking about this bridge for about five years. I saw a commercial on TV for some prescription drug. It featured a couple walking across a bridge that I thought looked neat. I looked up the drug commercial filming location. It was the Capilano suspension bridge. We nick named it the drug bridge. It was seriously on my/our bucket list.
Today, we walked across it (and back) and also went on a hike on walkways thru the treetops... huge Douglas firs. It reminded me of Endor, a magical forest. I was wishing I had one of those flying motorcycles though because there were LOTS of stairs. It was not really old lady friendly but I powered thru. Jane of course did fine.
Back to the bridge. Before we left San Antonio, we watched Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. I kept telling Jane it was an Indiana moment, just like the movie but our bridge was sturdy and not made of ropes and rotten wood. It swayed like crazy. I saw one old lady that was having a very bad day. She said THIS IS MY WORST NIGHTMARE. She was holding on and not enjoying the moment.
By the time we left, there was a huge crowd so good thing we were early.
Next we went to Grouse mountain. We rode up on a huge gondola. There was a beautiful view of Vancouver...really pretty. We went to a lumberjack show, ate lunch, and did a little shopping. The weather is absolutely perfect today. Our tour guide said this was not like usual, mostly it rains. We were very lucky.
One more thing. I booked a small group tour. No more than 14 people. There were only three of us on this tour with a very sweet older tour guide. Now that's proper touristing!!!
We are back in our room recovering a bit before we go on a city hike and dinner.
This day was something and it is not even over yet!
